Improving Your Research Through Storytelling

February 25, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

From grant writing to conference presentations, storytelling is a crucial element of presenting your research to colleagues in your field, funding agencies, policymakers, and the general public. In collaboration with the Steven Cruz Institute for Media, Science + Technology (SCI), this three-hour workshop will offer tools for STEM graduate students to incorporate storytelling into their science and enhance their science writing and presentation skills. Faculty members from the School of Communication and Journalism will offer insights into the research storytelling through the following workshop modules:

  • Introduction: What Is Storytelling + Why Is It Important for Scientific Research?
  • Visual Storytelling for Science
  • Telling Your Research Story Through an Elevator Pitch

This workshop is open to all graduate students in STEM and humanities/social sciences. Please note that we have a registration cap, and it is a first-come-first-admitted process. We ask that you complete your registration by February 18.
