Finding engaging and effective classroom activities can be time consuming and disappointing when we don’t get the results we hoped for. In Major, Harris and Zakrajsek (2016) Teaching for Learning: 101 Intentionally Designed Educational Activities to Put Students on the Path to Success, our colleagues have created a “comprehensive resource that highlights and synthesizes proven approaches” and strategies that foster student learning. In this session we’ll explore a few of their recommendations, specifically activities that enhance classroom discussions and encourage more meaningful engagement with course texts and other learning resources.
