Virtual Lab Dynamics in Practice Mentoring Training

September 29 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This interactive two-hour virtual workshop uses theater-based scenarios to explore the complex interpersonal dynamics that can arise in research and laboratory environments. Participants will observe realistic mentoring situations involving communication, expectations, power dynamics, conflict, and belonging, followed by facilitated discussion and reflection. Together, participants will examine the perspectives of both mentors and trainees, consider how different responses may shape the mentoring relationship, and identify practical strategies for fostering more supportive, inclusive, and productive research environments. The workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Bryan Dewsbury, UGS Faculty Fellow, and Jeffrey Steiger of FIU Faculty Success Theater, with actors bringing the mentoring scenarios to life.

Open to FIU Faculty.
