Applying for Faculty Positions – Diversity Statements: What They Are, Why They Matter, and How To Write One

March 7, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

ORED’s Office of Postdoctoral Scholar Services will offer its five-part series focused on preparing postdoctoral scholars to apply for tenure-track faculty positions during the Spring 2023 semester. The first and last sessions will focus on general information, such as the standard process and conventional application elements, such as cover letters, CV’s, start-up requests, and interviews. The other three events will focus more in-depth on three critical components of most faculty job applications: 1) research statements, 2) philosophy of teaching statements, and 3) diversity statements.

Diversity Statements: What They Are, Why They Matter, and How To Write One is presented by Caroline Simpson, PhD, Associate Director, Office to Advance Women, Equity, and Diversity; Professor, Department of Physics; Equity Advisor, College of Arts, Sciences, and Education.
