In this workshop, we will discuss the ways you can use groupwork to empower students and, in the process, yourself as a teacher. Groupwork enables students to collaborate with and learn from one another at all stages of the reading, writing, and thinking process. Groupwork also helps teachers put some of the labor of learning on the students and helps address our students’ diverse approaches to and comfort with participating in class. When used thoughtfully, groupwork enables teachers and students to establish a caring community of learners.
