Less than stellar results from an assignment often evoke shock from both professors and students. They may wonder: Where did I go wrong? What is this assignment supposed to be? Thinking through the ways that assignment expectations are structured promotes the successful communication of expectations. Our goal will be to discuss the development of assignment sheets and rubrics to yield quality results from students. In this workshop, we will discuss strategies to clarify expectations and streamline grading. Please bring copies of your syllabi, assignment sheets, or rubrics as we will be exploring the types of approaches used to describe an assignment to students.
